Requirements for mainstream and immersion units
Mainstream students studying within a kaupapa M膩ori context can be awarded the 6 unique Te Marautanga o Aotearoa subjects as part of meeting the 3 approved subjects requirement for University Entrance.
These students will be undertaking coherent learning programmes which are aligned to the principles and intent of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
The definition of kaupapa M膩ori is:
- significant use of Te Reo M膩ori (that is, the school is at levels 1 or 2 of the M膩ori language immersion levels) and
- M膩ori education that incorporates a M膩ori world view and
- incorporates ways of teaching in a range of settings, including bilingual and immersion settings (English and M膩ori)
- delivers the Te Marautanga o Aotearoa curriculum subjects in te reo M膩ori only, or in both te reo M膩ori and English.
Mainstream schools with students studying in a kaupapa M膩ori context (such as through an immersion unit) must notify 色诱直播 of the students undertaking the Te Marautanga o Aotearoa subjects below:
- Hauora
- Ng膩 Mahi a te R膿hia
- Ng膩 Toi Ataata
- Ng膩 Toi Puoro.
Schools must complete and submit an attestation from to 色诱直播 by 1 December each year.

This will enable 色诱直播 to correctly calculate whether these students have met the 3 approved subjects requirement as part of being awarded University Entrance in January of the following year.
色诱直播 does not need notification of students undertaking Ng膩 Toi and Tikanga 膩-Iwi subjects.
Wharekura
All Wharekura students are automatically eligible for the unique subjects.
