We are pleased to announce that a M膩tauranga M膩ori Assessment Symposium will be held in 2026 for kaiako who are assessing or wishing to learn more about one or more of the following learning areas:
- Te Ao Haka
- Te Reo M膩ori
- Ng膩 w膩hanga ako o Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
- Whakairo, Ng膩 Mahi a te Whare Pora.
The symposium will support kaiako to learn, develop and master their skills and knowledge enabling them to integrate these into their teaching, learning, and assessment programmes. The symposium will also provide a valuable opportunity for kaiako to network with other kaiako and experts.
色诱直播 personnel will be present to provide support with queries about assessing 膩konga against internally assessed standards and unpacking the requirements for external assessment.

Who should attend?
- Kaiako looking to introduce one or more of the above w膩hanga ako/learning areas at their kura.
- Kaiako and kura new to teaching one or more of the above w膩hanga ako/learning areas at their kura.
- Experienced kaiako seeking a refresher or support in assessing against the standards.
Programme and guest speakers
Sessions for each subject/w膩hanga ako will be delivered across the three days.
Kaiako are welcome to attend all three days or choose the days/sessions that are relevant to them.

What's included?
- Three days of interactive workshops and presentations led by experts of Te Ao Haka, Te Reo M膩ori, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Whakairo, and Ng膩 Mahi a te Whare Pora.
- Guidance on assessment for the above w膩hanga ako/learning areas (NCEA Levels 1 to 3) and Te Hiranga (Scholarship).
- Q&A sessions with subject matter experts.
- Access to resources and preparation materials.
- Kai provided throughout the symposium.
Kaiako/kura are responsible for making their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
Registration fee of the symposium
The cost to attend the full 3-day symposium is $150 per person (including GST).
If you are planning to attend part of the symposium, the following fees will apply:
- 1 session - $70 per person (including GST)
- 2 sessions - $120 per person (including GST)
- Te Ao Haka - $120 per person (including GST)
When completing the registration form, you鈥檒l be able to indicate which days or sessions you plan to attend.
Payment of registration fee
You will make your payment directly to Te Kura Kaupapa M膩ori o Hoani Waititi. The registration form includes details on how to make payment.
